Captain Gallant of the Foreign Legion features two stories. The first follows secret agent Arthur W. Beal, who travels to South America on a plane where he meets Helen Sheppard, a magazine correspondent assigned to cover President Juan Ramos and his policy of social reform; Beal discovers a suspicious passenger named Frederick Baxton is actually a secret agent being tailed, and after Helen's camera is found to contain explosive bullets, she confesses to being a secret agent sent to assassinate the President, leading to Beal's successful intervention. The second story depicts Captain Gallant and the Foreign Legion on patrol in the desert, where they discover water and take shelter, only to discover their discovery of an oasis is actually a mirage that vanishes before their eyes.
