“Gold of the Frozen North”

"Gold of the Frozen North" finds Captain Easy navigating treacherous waters—both literal and moral—as he aids a young girl in smuggling a cache of diamonds downriver to sell for gold, only to turn around and help her retrieve the fortune upriver to settle her father’s debt. With a vengeful creditor and a dozen hired hands on their trail, Easy must outwit a relentless foe who isn’t after gold at all, but something far more personal. Written and illustrated by the legendary Roy Crane, this Sunday strip collection showcases his masterful storytelling and dynamic artistry in a tale of loyalty, danger, and the high cost of keeping a promise.

Easy helps a girl transport a cache of diamonds down river to a town where they can be sold for gold, and then helps her get them back up river to her father so he can settle a debt. Meanwhile, the man to whom the debt is owed, along with a dozen minions, sets out to ambush Easy and the girl and steal either the diamonds or the gold in order to prevent the debt from being paid, in order to collect what he really wants--the girl herself.
