Captain Easy finds himself drawn to help Vicki Sheridan, a young woman recently paroled from the Home for Correction who claims to need his protection from the dangerous Punky Fowler—a man she says is a foreign spy and saboteur at the local shipyard. As Easy agrees to work with her to expose Fowler and his associates, he has no idea that her desperate plea for assistance is actually bait for a carefully laid trap. With foreign agents and criminals all playing their own angles, Easy is about to learn that helping a pretty face can be far more complicated than it seems.
Captain Easy thinks he's finally cornered the espionage ring—until a suspicious phone call and a strategically placed trap door turn the tables on him. With homemade bombs disguised as lumps of coal ready to sabotage the shipyard, the spy gang has Easy exactly where they want him, and they're not planning to let him walk away.
Captain Easy springs into action when he discovers a sabotage plot targeting the shipyard—incendiary bombs hidden in coal shipments headed for the power plant. With Vicki Sheridan's help, he takes desperate measures to stop the explosives, including commandeering a train to dump the dangerous cargo in the river. But Easy's improvised solution lands him in hot water with the authorities, forcing him to prove both his story and his true identity as a federal agent.
