Captain Confederacy #3

From Epic Comics, this January 1992 installment of Will Shetterly and Vince Stone's alternate-history series finds Captain Confederacy — depicted here in her star-spangled Confederate-themed costume alongside a younger blonde companion — in serious danger, with a mysterious red-haired figure leveling an oversized weapon directly at them amid flames and churning smoke. The looming, ghostly face visible in the clouds above gives the scene an ominous, almost supernatural weight that fits perfectly with a chapter titled "Hellhound On My Trail." Stone's cover work captures a strong sense of motion and menace that makes this third issue hard to put down without opening it.
