Captain Atom #6
Part of DC's New 52 initiative, Captain Atom #6 (April 2012) carries the ominous subtitle "The Enemy Within" — and Artgerm's cover makes the threat unmistakably clear. Captain Atom's silver-blue face is literally split down the middle, one half coolly composed and the other consumed by a grotesque, monstrous transformation complete with a reptilian yellow eye and bared fangs, all set against a blazing corona of orange energy. Written by J. T. Krul with art by Freddie Williams II, this is a striking portrait of a hero at war with something far closer to home than any outside adversary.
