Captain Atom #11
Part of DC's New 52 initiative, this September 2012 issue promises high stakes right from its striking cover by Freddie Williams II — Captain Atom looms large, his silvery metallic form emanating an eerie glow as he cradles what appears to be the entire Earth in his outstretched hands. The "Final Countdown" banner makes the tension unmistakable: a being of near-limitless atomic power holding the fate of the world quite literally in his grasp is a genuinely compelling image. With J.T. Krul writing and Williams handling both pencils and inks, this penultimate chapter of the series looks to be a visually charged, high-concept chapter for fans of the character.
