Captain America: Forever Allies #4
The four-part Forever Allies limited series reaches its finale with a cover by Lee Weeks that captures the sweep of the whole saga at once — a determined Captain America leaps forward shield in hand across crumbling stonework, while looming ghostlike above him are the wartime Young Allies, a vivid reminder of the bonds forged in an earlier era. A screaming face dominates the fiery red sky, lending the image a sense of high stakes and urgency that fits the "Hall of the Gods" billing perfectly. Roger Stern's script is backed by a strong artistic team including Nick Dragotta and Marco Santucci, making this 2011 closer a satisfying cap to what looks like an adventure bridging past heroism and present-day conflict.
