Francesco Francavilla's cover for this 2012 Marvel team-up plunges Captain America and Black Widow into a fiery, red-drenched battlefield, where Cap thrusts his shield upward against the massive clawed appendages of a looming mechanical creature while Black Widow, gun in hand, holds her ground in the foreground. The tension radiating from that scarlet sky and the alien machinery writhing overhead makes it immediately clear these two are badly outnumbered — and completely unfazed by it. Cullen Bunn and Francavilla (handling full art duties) make a compelling creative pairing for this chapter of the series.
