Styled like a vintage Southern label — complete with ornate borders, a crown, and the declaration "Established 1908" — this third issue of Image's Cannibal has an immediate atmosphere all its own. Matias Bergara's cover centers on two men facing off nose-to-nose: one rendered in fiery oranges and reds, the other in cool blues, both with hands bound behind their backs, surrounded by ghostly fern and fish-bone motifs. Writers Brian Buccellato and Jennifer Young are crafting something with real texture down in the bayou, and this issue makes clear the tension between its characters is anything but subtle.
