Candy faces a romantic dilemma when Ted Dawson asks her to the dance at the last minute, but she has already promised to go with another boy. After turning Ted down, Candy encounters an elderly man in danger from an oncoming truck; she saves his life by pushing him to safety. Grateful for her heroism, the man invites her to the Lodge Dance as a reward, and she happily accepts. In a separate story titled "The Wigs Lip!", Candy attends the Winter Formal at Hartwick High School gymnasium, where she encounters Ted and his friend Cosmo, leading to comedic complications involving her appearance and the boys' reactions.
