As the team pushes through dangerous territory to reach the soldiers, they discover just how much their presence means to the men who are holding the line. With their first successful run complete, the women of the Bearcat are already preparing for a second trip into Germany, proving that even under fire, morale matters.
PFC. Mary Jane Ford, a WAC stationed at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, springs into action when she spots a soldier drowning at Airport Lake during her off-duty hours. Drawing on her lifesaving training, she dives repeatedly to locate him underwater and brings him to shore, where medical personnel take over. Though the soldier doesn't survive, her fearless efforts under dangerous circumstances earn her the Soldier's Medal for heroism.
