“Waiting For the End of the World Chapter One: The Last Place on Earth”

In "Waiting For the End of the World Chapter One: The Last Place on Earth," Cable #7 delivers a gripping dual narrative: while X-Force holds Bishop captive and Cyclops presses him for answers, Emma Frost probes his mind to uncover the fate of Cable and the mutant baby—revealing Cable’s grim reality of moving forward in time with no return. Meanwhile, in the distant future, Cable lives a quiet life raising the girl in the hidden city of New Liberty, until a sudden U.S. military invasion shatters their fragile peace. Written by Duane Swierczynski and illustrated by Ariel Olivetti—whose distinctive art and color work define the issue’s stark, emotional tone—this pivotal chapter sets a haunting tone for what’s to come. The cover by Ariel Olivetti captures the quiet dread of that final moment before the storm.

X-Force captures Bishop and brings him back to the X-Men. Cyclops interrogates Bishop and Emma looks into his mind to try and discover the fate of Cable and the mutant baby. They find out that Cable is only able to move forward in time with little hope of returning to their present. Meanwhile, in the far future, Cable has settled into a domestic life, raising the mutant girl as his daughter, in the hidden city of New Liberty. Their peaceful existence is shattered, however, as U.S. troops break the barrier and invade.
