Cable is front and center in this 1999 Marvel issue, locked in a brutal clash with a massive, skull-faced armored villain who's driving a blade toward him — while Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Vision rally in the background, making the cover's "Humanity's Last Stand?" tagline feel entirely earned. José Ladrönn and Juan Vlasco pack the image with raw kinetic energy, the debris-strewn battlefield giving every figure a sense of real weight and consequence. With the Avengers guest-starring alongside Cable in "God's Fingerprints," this is a crossover that clearly isn't pulling any punches.
