“3: What Goes Up Must Come Down”

In "3: What Goes Up Must Come Down," Peter sneaks into his aunt's hospital room for a final goodbye—only to be ambushed by Thunderbolt Ross, who has enlisted Steve Rogers to wear the Iron Man armor one last time to capture him. As Peter transforms into the Hulk, the resulting clash with Iron Man takes a devastating turn. Meanwhile, Reed and his team launch a long-forgotten experimental rocket to gather cosmic radiation, but sabotage dooms the mission—leaving Reed as the sole survivor, thrust into a new role as director of SHIELD. Written by J. Michael Straczynski and illustrated by Tommy Lee Edwards, with cover art by Edwards, this 2007 Marvel issue delivers a high-stakes, emotionally charged narrative that redefines legacy and consequence.
