Buffalo Bill becomes embroiled in a conflict involving a gambling dispute and gunplay at what appears to be a saloon, where a man named Hickok warns him about drawing guns on certain people. The story shifts to military action during wartime, with Buffalo Bill meeting with Colonel Bridges at Fort Hays to address threats from an enemy force led by Gray Fox, whose war party is conducting raids across the plains. As Annie rides to help her friend Theresa, she becomes caught up in confronting Slade's gang, who have falsely blamed Tom Rustled for stealing branded cattle, leading to a dramatic shootout where Annie uses her marksmanship skills to disarm the outlaws and help prove Tom's innocence before a sheriff's tribunal.

Wild Bill Hickok finds himself drawn into the lawless town of Lawless Junction when a spirited stagecoach driver named Calamity Jane gets caught up in a gold shipment robbery—and refuses to let the outlaw Jeff Burke run the town unchallenged. Robert Q. Sale illustrates this tale of fast guns and frontier justice.

7 pp · Western-Frontier

Annie Oakley, the sharpshooter known to the Sioux as "Little Sure Shot," takes on a rifle exhibition match against an Eastern champion while her friend Tom Smith faces a lynching accusation from rustler Ed Slade and his gang. Her deadly aim and fearless nerve put her at odds with outlaws determined to hide their crime.
