In London, Brick Bradford learns that Toby Banknote's cargo ships have been disappearing, lost at sea. He agrees to travel to Mombasa on Toby's behalf to try and learn the answer to this mystery, where he meets up with Captain Crudd and his yacht. Crudd will not go to sea without a cook, so he hires Presto Prescott and his sister Priscilla before leaving shore. During the night they arrive at the spot where the last cargo ship disappeared. Overhead there is a blinding flash, the waters become turbulent, and soon the yacht and its crew find themselves captives on The Island of the Eye.
