Vagabond Lassie scares off cougar, springs otter from illegal trap, befriends otter, springs another poacher trap, finds lame Game Warden, brings poacher's horse to Game Warden, attacks and chases poacher, Game Warden catches poacher: all trapping is forbidden on Battle Creek. Forest wildlife are safe from traps, Lassie hangs with her otter pal as the people leave. Peace has returned to Battle Creek.
