They start seeing more of each other, but he gets fed up with her good luck and walks out on her. She decides to visit her aunt, but takes the wrong train. Then she breaks a heel and misses the bus. She sits on a bench seat near a boy who was also going to Yorkington, but his car has conked out. He discovers he has run out of petrol and, when they set off together, she knows luck is not going to hinder their relationship, good or bad.
