When Jed laughs at her for crying during a showing of "Little Girl Lost", Alvie realizes she will never have a shoulder to cry on with him. Outside she runs into a man who has tears in his eyes and feels he is the kind of man a girl could trust. But later she learns that his tears were caused by his work site and he had never even seen "Little Girl Lost".
