“That Wonderful Moment”

In "That Wonderful Moment," Madge and June face a disappointing start to their holiday when the promised "stone's throw" from the sea turns into a two-mile trek. Exhausted and frustrated, June’s impromptu stone toss nearly catches two passing boys—only to lead to an unexpected turn when the pair offer to escort them on their scooters for the rest of the trip. Penciled and inked by Félix Mas, this 1961 slice of seaside charm captures the quiet humor and gentle romance of a summer adventure.

Madge and June get holiday lodgings that are advertised as a "stone's throw from the sea", but they end up walking two miles to get to the beach. By the time they get home that evening, they are exhausted and couldn't take another step. Unhappy with the "stone's throw" reference, June randomly throws a stone and almost hits one of two guys walking nearby. But the boys aren't too upset when they see the girls and end up escorting the girls for the rest of the holiday on their scooters.
