The fourth chapter of Borderline — subtitled Martyr — arrives with a cover that lays out its tensions in sharp visual panels: a figure sent flying through an explosion, a man pinned to the ground, a confrontation at a desk where someone is being forced to write under duress, and a piercing close-up of a cold, watchful face. By Alexis Robin and Nathalie Berr, this 2011 Bamboo Édition release carries the series' tagline — "Priez pour qu'il n'écrive jamais votre histoire" ("Pray he never writes your story") — which says plenty about the kind of threat simmering at the heart of this thriller. If you've been following Borderline, Chapter 4 looks set to push its cat-and-mouse dynamics into darker territory.
