This anthology issue features multiple Western stories. "House of Fear" follows Border Patrolman Tim Merrill as he investigates a mysterious killer lurking near a desert home where a family is in danger. "Second Chance" is a text story about Joe Winters, a recently released five-year prison inmate who steals a gold watch from an elderly man on a streetcar, only to be accused of pickpocketing and face suspicion as he attempts to build a new life. "The Crooked Trail" depicts Red Carver, a man who chose crime over honest ranching, attempting to steal cattle; his wife Margaret tries to convince him to abandon his outlaw ways and restore their struggling ranch instead.
