A quietly tender image greets you on the cover of this 2014 Rue de Sèvres release: a weary, bespectacled superhero in a red-and-blue costume stands on a sunlit sidewalk, hand-in-hand with a small child, both of them pausing as if at the start of an ordinary day. Olivier Tallec's painterly, muted style turns the superhero-as-everyman into something genuinely moving — there's more briefcase than bravado here.
