Bob Steele, filmdom's fastest shooting cowboy, stars in "Hangman's Bait," a story in which he becomes trapped in a blazing inferno after being set up by criminals. With the help of his horse Bullet and a woman named Mary, Bob escapes the fire and heads to Junction City, where he investigates a scheme involving gambling at a local casino run by a man named Caton. After discovering that the anxious banker Bert has lost money at the casino and suspecting Caton's involvement in the original plot against him, Bob confronts the criminals in a final shootout at a barn, subduing them and ensuring their capture.
