Bloodshot #51

This striking cover by Sean Chen and Steve Montano says it all with remarkable economy: Bloodshot's silhouetted figure, eyes glowing red and chest dot unmistakable, stands framed against a massive crimson circle while hoisting the enormous horned, honeycomb-plated skull of some monstrous bull-like creature overhead. The moody coastal landscape and drifting smoke behind him give the scene a haunting, almost cinematic weight that perfectly suits the "Deathtrap Part II" story within. With Moretti scripting and Chen on interior art as well, issue #51 delivers the kind of brooding Valiant atmosphere that made this series such a compelling corner of the 1990s comics landscape.
