Bloodshot #40

Against a battered, blood-streaked American flag, Bloodshot looms large on this December 1995 Valiant cover — his pale blue skin marked with his signature red circle and the nanite-infused crosshatch symbol, face bloodied but expression grimly resolute, an arsenal of firearms piled before him. The title "Things Fall Apart" suggests the kind of high-stakes pressure this character thrives under, and the imagery certainly delivers on that promise. Cover pencils by Jeff Johnson and inks by Scott Kolins give the scene a raw, muscular energy that makes this issue hard to pass by on the shelf.
