“Tonic... With a Real Kick”

Paul Fung Jr.'s cover for this 1975 Charlton issue captures a wonderfully chaotic supermarket collision — a flustered man and an equally exasperated woman have crashed their shopping carts together, sending groceries flying in every direction, each blaming the other with the dueling speech bubbles "Women Drivers!" and "These Men Drivers... Ugh!" Blondie herself appears in a small inset panel at the upper left, blissfully unaware of the mayhem unfolding below. It's the kind of lighthearted, relatable humor that made Chic Young's strip a household staple, delivered here with Fung Jr.'s energetic, expressive linework.
