Blonde Phantom Comics #17

From 1948 comes this striking issue of Blonde Phantom Comics, with a cover by penciler Mike Sekowsky and inker Vince Alascia that puts the masked, red-gowned heroine front and center — pistol in hand, swooping in on a rope to confront a dark-haired villainess and her muscle-bound henchman while a defiant captive kneels below. The speech balloons crackle with tension, making it immediately clear that the Blonde Phantom has arrived very much on her own terms. Interior art by Syd Shores brings the story "Best Man for Murder!" to life, rounding out a thoroughly entertaining package from Marvel's golden age of adventure comics.
