This February 1963 DC issue promises a sensational two-part adventure as the Blackhawk team faces a very nasty surprise — the massive red robot called Ultra, whose extendable arms have coiled around the squad and sent several blue-uniformed Blackhawks tumbling helplessly through the air. Dick Dillin's pencils and Sheldon Moldoff's inks give Ultra a menacing, mechanical bulk that dominates the rocky landscape, while the speech bubble captures the team's grim realization that their foe was only playing possum. Ed Herron's script and Dick Dillin's interior art back up a cover that makes it easy to see why the Blackhawks had every reason to be worried.
