Black Science #19
Matteo Scalera's cover for Black Science #19 says everything about the series' vertiginous dread in a single image: a small, tumbling figure falls helplessly toward — or perhaps away from — a colossal cracked stone face half-swallowed by dark water and clusters of blue butterflies and flowers. The contrast between the fragile human form and that ancient, crumbling visage gives the "Godworld" arc its title real weight, suggesting a dimension that operates on a scale utterly indifferent to its visitors. Rick Remender and Scalera, with Moreno Dinisio's deep teal and shadow palette, make this third chapter of five feel genuinely mythic.
