Black Knight #1
Marvel's 2016 solo series for Dane Whitman launches with a cover by Julian Totino Tedesco that sets a brooding, painterly tone — the Black Knight stands clutching his blood-red Ebony Blade with gauntleted hands, his dark cloak whipping behind him against a storm-grey sky dotted with skulls and eerie floating terrain. The mood is unmistakably grim, hinting at a hero wrestling with a burden as heavy as the cursed sword he carries. With Frank Tieri writing and Luca Pizzari on art, "Dark Knight Part One" promises a serious, atmospheric chapter for one of Marvel's most underrated warrior-heroes.
