Black Canary #12
The twelfth and final issue of this 2016 DC series closes out with a cover as striking as the run itself — Annie Wu depicts a battered, defiant Black Canary crouched among shattered debris, her blonde hair falling across her face as she grips a weapon and steels herself against whatever comes next, bathed in Wu's signature palette of deep crimson and cool teal. The fragmented, angular background and that hypnotic title treatment give the whole image a raw, punk-rock urgency that perfectly suits the series' tone. With writer Brenden Fletcher and colorist Lee Loughridge rounding out the creative team, "Rock & Roll Suicide" promises a fittingly dramatic send-off for one of DC's most stylish recent solo titles.
