At the Blue Sage Ranch, Billy West's uncle Dan warns him about the hot-tempered rustlers operating in the area and tells him to stay out of trouble, but Billy ignores the advice. When rustlers attack nearby Bull Jason's ranch and kidnap Julie and Snubby, Billy pursues them, discovering that Bull Jason himself is actually a crook working with the rustlers. Billy rescues Julie and Snubby from the river where they were left, and the children are taken in by a kind ranching couple who offer them a home. Years later, Billy has grown up on the ranch, becoming an accomplished cowboy, and is reunited with his old friend Sam Bassett, who reveals he is now a traveling salesman.
