☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis issue is an anthology featuring two stories. "A Bad Day for Billy" depicts Billy the Kid in a gunfight with a villain called the Black Widow; after guards pursue them, Billy and his companion Amigo escape as dynamite explosions destroy a mine shaft, with the Black Widow apparently perishing in the blast. The second story, "Cowboy," follows a group of trail drivers and cowboys from Texas, including characters named Nate Winkler and Ben Uppyke, who encounter trouble at a saloon where Uppyke suffers broken ribs and Bonney is injured; the narrative continues with discussion of finding a doctor and keeping the injured men stable.
In "The Black Widow Strikes," Billy the Kid tracks down the elusive outlaw Curt Oldenham, only to be captured and imprisoned in a remote gold mine by the ruthless Black Widow. Trapped beneath the earth with other slaves, Billy discovers Curt among them and sparks a desperate uprising, rallying the prisoners to blow the mine from within. With the walls closing in and the Black Widow determined to keep her fortune, the fate of the mine—and its captives—hangs in the balance.
In "A Bad Day for Billy," Billy endures a brutal ambush after a bullet shatters his ribs when his horse panics. Though he hides the injury, word leaks to the Wallace gang, who now wait for him. With no gun and a body screaming in pain, Billy must face them on his own terms—no matter the cost.
