Billy the Kid #142

Charlton's long-running frontier series charges into issue #142 with a cover by José Delbo that puts the action front and center — Billy the Kid lashes out with a whip against a man in a green coat whose hat goes flying, while a second adversary scrambles in the background of a dusty frontier town. The story inside is titled "Vendetta In Paradise Flats," which promises exactly the kind of gritty Western score-settling this series does so well. Delbo's clean, energetic linework makes this 1981 entry a fine snapshot of Charlton Western comics doing what they did best.
