Charlton's Billy the Kid #119 from 1976 sets a tense, atmospheric mood right on its cover — Warren Sattler's artwork depicts a cloaked figure crouching in the darkness, lantern in one hand and pistol in the other, while a shadowy armed figure lurks menacingly in the background. That small inset portrait of Billy in the upper left corner gives fans a quick reminder of the frontier hero at the center of it all. With an interior story titled "The Cobra Strikes" and art by Jordi Franch Cubells, this is a fine example of Charlton's reliably entertaining Western storytelling at its mid-seventies best.
