Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider #2

A pistol jammed directly against the red mask of Ben Reilly is all the provocation this cover needs — the hooded Scarlet Spider pinned against a brick wall, staring down the barrel with those cracked white lenses, radiates immediate, close-quarters danger. Mark Bagley's pencils (inked by Scott Hanna) make the threat feel visceral and personal, stripping away any web-slinging spectacle in favor of raw vulnerability. Peter David's 2017 series is already making clear that Ben Reilly's road back is anything but smooth.
