Beautiful Stories for Ugly Children #15

Piranha Press's offbeat anthology series delivers another wonderfully strange entry with Volume 15, "The Pagan Tourist." Dan Sweetman's cover art sets the tone perfectly — a bewildered, horn-helmeted everyman sits crammed into what appears to be a Viking longboat, clutching a wooden oar, while the standing stones of Stonehenge loom behind him in an unsettling wash of reds and earth tones. Dave Louapre and Sweetman's collaboration continues to mine that peculiar territory between the mundane and the mythic, and this 1990 Piranha Press offering is aimed squarely at mature readers who appreciate their fiction a little weird and a lot imaginative.
