Battlefield Action #44
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis November 1962 Charlton war title delivers a tense cover scene by Dick Giordano: a helmeted American GI clutching a rifle advances cautiously through a cave or rocky passage while an enormous enemy pistol — complete with a swastika-marked dog tag hanging from it — looms in the foreground, its barrel aimed directly at him as he calls out "Anybody here?" The cover text promises the featured tale of P.F.C. Bernie Rendon, "one little guy" pitted against Tiger Tanks and the Luftwaffe in a story billed as "The Super Soldier!" With interiors by writer Joe Gill and artist/inker Bill Molno, this twelve-cent issue captures the scrappy, everyman-soldier spirit that made Charlton's war line a reliable read throughout the early 1960s.
