Pvt. Ike and Sgt. During a Korean War truce, Pvt. Ike watches his bunkmate Danny Fowler grow increasingly demoralized by never receiving mail from home—until word comes that a letter with Danny's name has finally arrived, only to be stolen by guerillas raiding the mailbag for food. Determined to recover what little connection he has to the world back home, Danny convinces Ike to help him track down the thieves into the surrounding hills. What unfolds is equal parts wartime desperation and dark humor, a reminder of just how much a single letter means to a soldier far from everything familiar.
