Battle Beasts #4

The penultimate issue of IDW's Battle Beasts miniseries delivers a cover that crackles with kinetic energy — a dark-haired woman in mid-air trades blows with a glowing, energy-wreathed figure while armored beast warriors clash in the foreground, all rendered in Valerio Schiti's fluid, dynamic linework. The swirling ribbons of pink energy tearing across the composition give the whole scene a sense of barely contained chaos that pulls you right in. Writer Bobby Curnow and artist Schiti were clearly building toward something big with this 2012 IDW series, and issue #4 makes that momentum feel unmistakable.
