“A Rush of Blood”

The second issue of DC's New 52 relaunch of Batman: The Dark Knight promises raw, brutal intensity, and David Finch and Richard Friend's cover delivers exactly that — Batman locked in a savage, mid-air clash with a monstrous, hulking Two-Face amid a shower of shattered concrete. Two-Face's disfigured visage and enormous fist fill the foreground as the Dark Knight drives into him with full force, making it immediately clear why the tagline reads "The Fury of Two-Face." With Paul Jenkins and Finch co-writing and Finch on interior art as well, this 2011 chapter of "A Rush of Blood" looks like one of the more viscerally charged confrontations Gotham's protector has faced in this relaunched series.
