Batman / Scarecrow 3-D #1

A looming, ragged Scarecrow dominates this 1998 DC one-shot, his burlap-gloved hands reaching outward in a deeply unsettling way as Batman and Robin streak beneath him in a desperate dive — it's a wonderfully dynamic composition that makes great use of the 3-D format (free glasses included!). Carl Critchlow's cover pencils, inked by Sal Buscema, pack real menace into the Master of Fear while keeping Gotham's Dynamic Duo in urgent, kinetic motion. John Francis Moore's "Concert of Fear" promises exactly the kind of atmospheric Batman adventure that made the late '90s DC line such a treat.
