Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #110

Part two of "The Primal Riddle" arrives in September 1998 with one of the more unsettling Riddler covers of the era — Edward Nygma in his green question-mark suit, head thrown back in a wild, mouth-agape scream, surrounded by a ghostly chorus of grotesque, snarling faces sketched across the blue background. Jason Pearson's cover art gives the Prince of Puzzles a raw, almost unhinged energy that feels distinctly different from his usual smug composure. With Steve Englehart writing and Dusty Abell on interior art, this middle chapter of a three-part arc promises plenty of psychological tension beneath Gotham's surface.
