Batman: Kings of Fear #2

The second chapter of this 2018 six-issue DC miniseries puts Batman on the defensive in unsettling fashion — Kelley Jones' cover depicts the Dark Knight crouched atop the gothic stonework of what appears to be Arkham Asylum, its looming tower staring down with glowing eyes like a living thing, while a taunting speech bubble asks, "Maybe you don't know Gotham after all, Batman?!" Jones' distinctively expressive linework, colored by Michelle Madsen, gives the architecture itself a menacing, almost sentient quality that makes Gotham feel genuinely threatening. Scott Peterson's story continues here, and if the cover is any indication, Batman's confidence in his city is about to be seriously tested.
