Batman Incorporated #1
This collection kicks off the 2023 Batman Incorporated series, reintroducing the global Batman network under a new direction. Written by Ed Brisson with art by John Timms, the story sees Ghost-Maker assembling a fresh team of international heroes to take on a mysterious threat targeting the world's protectors. The volume collects the first six issues of the series.
"Under New Management" kicks off a bold new chapter in the Batman mythos, with Ghost-Maker stepping into the role of leader for Batman Inc.—a move that doesn’t sit well with everyone in the field. Tasked by Batman himself, Ghost-Maker leads a mission to Chechnya to uncover the truth behind a missing town, following a mysterious meta-human experiment funded by Lex Luthor. Written by Ed Brisson and illustrated by John Timms, with colors by Rex Lokus and letters by Clayton Cowles, the cover by John Timms captures the tension of a world where the shadows have taken command.
In "Under New Management," Ghost-Maker takes the reins of Batman Inc. at Batman’s request, facing immediate resistance from within the ranks. With the team deployed to Chechnya, they investigate the eerie disappearance of a small town’s entire population after Lex Luthor’s Gray Wolf meta-human project went rogue.
In "No More Teachers, Part 2," Batman Inc. members divide into smaller teams to protect the former mentors of Batman and Ghost-Maker from a relentless killer hunting them. With danger closing in from all sides, the team must rely on instinct, loyalty, and the lessons of their past to stay one step ahead.
In "No More Teachers, Part 3," Ghost-Maker races to protect his mentors from a relentless wave of costumed assassins while chasing clues about Clownhunter’s disappearance. Meanwhile, Clownhunter uncovers the shocking truth: his captor is none other than Ghost-Hunter’s former sidekick, driven by a bitter desire for revenge.
In "No More Teachers, Part 4," Batman Incorporated’s heroes are split and overwhelmed as Phantom-One, now backed by the vengeful Clownhunter and the enigmatic Black Mist, turns his fury on Ghost-Maker, targeting him for a betrayal that still echoes. The stakes rise as fractured alliances and personal grudges collide in a battle where loyalty is tested and past sins come roaring back.
In "No More Teachers, Conclusion," Ghost-Maker confronts Phantom-One, a former ally driven by a past betrayal, as the rest of Batman Inc. battle Phantom-One’s allies in a high-stakes clash of loyalty and vengeance. The story unfolds with tense personal stakes and escalating action, rooted in the fallout of old wounds and fractured trust.
In "This Little Piggy, Part 1," Batman Incorporated arrives in Gotham to contain a furious Professor Pyg, who’s unleashed chaos across the city’s underworld after a priceless item was stolen from him. With his twisted methods and relentless pursuit, Pyg turns the streets into a grotesque game of vengeance—forcing the team to confront not just his madness, but the deeper mystery behind what was taken.
In "This Little Piggy, Part 2," Batman Incorporated confronts Professor Pyg, who has imprisoned several Gotham villains in a twisted bid for revenge after someone stole his mother. With the stakes rising and the city’s darkest secrets unraveling, Jo and the team must navigate a web of personal vendettas and psychological traps.
