Cold Snap Part One" kicks off what promises to be a wonderfully unexpected team-up, as the cover by Dan Mora throws Batgirl and the Penguin — top hat, monocle, umbrella, and tuxedo all intact — together against a blizzard-swept Burnside rooftop, a swarm of penguins scattering wildly around them. The two look more like uneasy allies bracing against the same storm than natural partners, which makes Burnside's "newest crime-fighting duo" all the more intriguing. With Hope Larson writing and the artistic team of Chris Wildgoose, José Marzán Jr., and Mat Lopes bringing the wintry chaos to life, this issue looks like a genuinely fun change of pace for the series.
