In Bad Machinery #6, Lottie stumbles upon a hidden closet in Dr. Julian’s kitchen brimming with crime-fighting gear, while Erin uncovers a shocking truth: her colleague Mike is the Night Creeper, a villain who drains hope from his victims. With the help of Todd Baxter’s ghost—so utterly hopeless that the Night Creeper’s power backfires—Lottie faces the threat head-on. Lottie discovers a secret closet, filled with crime-fighting equipment, in Dr. Julian's kitchen. Erin learns that her colleague Mike is the Night Creeper, who absorbs all hope from his victims. Lottie confronts the Night Creeper with the ghost of Todd Baxter, who is already so hopeless that trying to absorb his (non-existent) hope destroys the Night Creeper. Erin gets hired by a London newspaper. It turns out that Colin and Julian together have operated as the Night Hero. Now that their work is exposed they move on, leaving their angry girl friends behind.
