Backlash #9 (1995) delivers a tense, character-driven showdown as the titular hero storms the Stonewall Federal Armory to free the captured Taboo, aided by Dingo against the relentless Chasers. The rescue succeeds, but Taboo’s unexpected decision to walk away leaves Backlash grappling with personal revelations—only to return home and face an even more profound surprise: a daughter he never knew he had. Written by Sean Ruffner, Jeff Mariotte, and Brett Booth, with art by Dan Norton and inks by Edwin Rosell, the issue’s emotional weight is matched by its sharp storytelling and striking visuals, including a cover by Brett Booth and Edwin Rosell.

Backlash invades Stonewall Federal Armory to rescue the captured Taboo. Dingo helps him out as the Chasers stand in his way. After Taboo is liberated, however, she is unaware that Backlash is newly single and decides to go her own way rather than compete for his affections.
