B.P.R.D. #[1]
This first French collection of B.P.R.D. stories gathers the initial arcs of the spin-off series from Hellboy, including "Hollow Earth & Other Stories." It follows the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense as they investigate supernatural threats, featuring early work by Mike Mignola and other creators.
In "The Killer in My Skull," newly recruited Johann Kraus—a medium of pure ectoplasm—steps into the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense just as Abe Sapien receives a haunting vision of Liz Sherman, calling for help from beyond. With Roger and Abe racing to a remote arctic monastery, they uncover ancient Hyperborean horrors beneath the ice, all tied to the King of Fear, as they search to reclaim Liz’s lost essence. Flashbacks reveal Hellboy’s early days with Abe and Liz, setting the stage for a story where loyalty, memory, and the weight of the past collide. Written by Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, and Tom Sniegoski, with art by Ryan Sook and inks by Curtis Arnold, and colored by Dave Stewart, the issue’s cover by Mike Mignola captures the eerie, otherworldly tone of this chilling chapter.
